(It’s the lyrics to a song again! And it really hits close to home. How many people feel invisible?)
Invisible Person
I was an invisible person
it wasn’t just you who didn’t know me
when I’d walk the streets
I was truly lonely
no one saw the real me
try, try, try, child, try to change the way
be proud, confident and zealous
and your invisibility will go away
boast your thoughts and feelings
leave honesty in your wake
I once stood at a corner
and listened
and no one paid me any heed
I was just an invisible person
who didn’t deserve anything
you saw me as I stood there
cast in my shadow of doubt
assuming no one could see me
as if I was truly invisible
even trying to stand out
you pointed out the obvious
I guess that’s what it’s called
my beauty wasn’t something special
my voice was far too low
if I wanted to be visible…
try, try, try, child, try to change the way
be proud, confident and zealous
and your invisibility will go away
boast your thoughts and feelings
leave honesty in your wake
I was an invisible person
I stood among the leaves and cried
because no one saw my heartache
no one asked me why
until you saw me standing there
the hope you offered just because
the light at the end of a tunnel
you became the brightness
I needed most of all
so I would become visible
try, try, try, child, try to change the way
be proud, confident and zealous
and your invisibility will go away
boast your thoughts and feelings
leave honesty in your wake
Now when I walk the pathways
everyone knows my name
they smile and wave and ask questions
even if they are inane
I try my best to listen
try, try, try, child, try to change the way
be proud, confident and zealous
and your invisibility will go away
boast your thoughts and feelings
leave honesty in your wake
it’s not as if my life is different
I am just far more well known
my actions haven’t changed much
minus I don’t hide them at home
everyone can see me now
try, try, try, child, try to change the way
be proud, confident and zealous
and your invisibility will go away
boast your thoughts and feelings
leave honesty in your wake
when you find an invisible person
someone caught up in life’s hacks
who manages to go unnoticed
even when they’re ready to crack
will you offer them the words?
try, try, try, child, try to change the way
be proud, confident and zealous
and your invisibility will go away
boast your thoughts and feelings
leave honesty in your wake
try, try, try, child, try to change the way
be proud, confident and zealous
and your invisibility will go away
boast your thoughts and feelings
leave honesty in your wake
