Now if you ask anyone, Lenape are still here. They are not given the same allowances or rights living on the land but refused the unjust removal completely. Hidden in the shadows more than standing strong collectively. There wasn’t even a clear reservation in NJ of the Lenape until the 1970s. They existed, but they weren’t seen as existing.
Every day is a fight. Every day there are struggles.
Dedicating this book is a reminder that those who were fought against haven’t gone completely away. You just don’t wish to acknowledge them being here.
They are not history.
They are here. They are the future. And they will fight to deny any attempts to change that.
Stop calling them history. They are still here. They’re not going anywhere.
The dedication is to being on Lenape grounds. Living here and connecting to the land. The people suck, but the land can’t be compared to.
